GMI (Global Mentorship Initiative) is an international non-profit program that helps students and recent graduates prepare for their first job through personalized mentorship with experienced professionals from around the world.

Program mentors are experienced specialists from leading international companies such as Microsoft, LinkedIn, Expedia, and others.

The program is designed for senior students and recent graduates who are just beginning their professional careers.

The University of Customs and Finance is the first higher education institution in the region to join the GMI mentorship program. At the initiative of the Career Center and with the support of the International Relations Office, a Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation has been signed between the University of Customs and Finance and GMI.

What Do Students Gain?

As part of the program, each participant works with a mentor through 10 online sessions, gaining practical skills for building a successful career:

  • creating a strong CV
  • preparing for job interviews and developing soft skills
  • building a career plan and using modern tools, including AI
  • developing networking skills and building a professional profile (LinkedIn)

The program is free of charge and flexible, lasting approximately three months, and helps students confidently transition from education to professional life. Participants also gain access to a global professional community and professional development opportunities : according to the program, many participants receive interview invitations or secure jobs during the program.

The program is supported by companies such as Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Honeywell.

Eligibility and Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Proficiency in English or Spanish
  • Students who will complete their degree within the next two years, or graduates who completed their degree within the last two years and are still seeking their first career job
  • Requirements related to graduation timelines may be waived for refugees or displaced learners
  • Access to a computer with a camera and a stable internet connection
  • Ability to commit to all 10 one-hour online mentorship sessions
